History of So-Use

So-Use Credit Union was founded on April 14, 1950 when a small group of Ukrainian visionaries met in the church auditorium of St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral located at 404 Bathurst Street in Toronto. Twenty-five members pooled a total of $197.00 in assets, signed the Charter and established the credit union. Today we continue to benefit from these humble beginnings. Our assets now exceed $72 million.

Credit unions are financial co-operatives and are part of the country’s flourishing co-operative movement. In accordance with the credit union philosophy of co-operation, local credit unions draw their membership and assets from the community in which they operate and put their financial resources back to work in that community. So-Use Credit is no exception and has been a strong supporter of the local community.

So-Use Credit Union provides services in conjunction with financial services partners within the Co-operative Financial Services Group companies which include: Credit Union Members Insurance Society (CUMIS), Credential Financial Inc., Concentra Financial, The Co-operators Insurance, Ethical Funds Inc., CU Electronic Transaction Services. In addition, other similar organizations that espouse credit union goals and values provide useful and valuable member services.
